The Rs 49.27 billion sewerage system upgrade from Larechs Colony to Gulshan-e-Ravi in Lahore has been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), following referral by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP). Funded by a soft loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the project uses trenchless micro-tunneling technology to construct approximately 28-32 kilometers of new trunk sewer lines and a high-capacity disposal station. It will benefit around 2.35 million residents across 15,600 acres, with construction slated to commence in January 2026, aiming to improve Lahore’s aging sewer network and reduce urban flooding.
