The annual Urs (death anniversary) of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Mian Mir began in early March 2026 at his historic dargah in Mian Mir Village. The multi-day event featured large gatherings for prayers, Qur'an recitation (Faatiha), and the distribution of free communal meals (langar). The second-day proceedings were broadcast live by local news channel City 42, highlighting the event's significant local following and cultural importance.
Provincial authorities have announced that Mian Mir Village will be incorporated into Punjab's ongoing 'Model Village' initiative. This inclusion is part of a broader heritage-preservation and community-development effort, with funds earmarked specifically for upgrading local infrastructure. Planned improvements include road repairs, enhancements to the water supply and sanitation systems, and the refurbishment of facilities around the historic Mian Mir shrine.
