A 1940s civil-defence bunker on the site has been converted into "The Barracks" art museum, which opened in early 2026. The museum has already hosted exhibitions, such as "Eternal Imprints," showcasing contemporary art within the restored colonial architecture. Local heritage authorities are actively preserving the surrounding barracks-era buildings and integrating the area into wider plans to restore the original names of Lahore's historic neighbourhoods. This initiative reflects a broader, coordinated effort to revitalize the city's cultural identity.

Concurrent with the Barracks Colony project, Lahore is witnessing multiple heritage restoration efforts. The WASA Pump Building in Badami Bagh, a 140-year-old British-era industrial landmark, is being transformed into a Heritage Museum Café.
